Meet Dr Carol Dowling

Dr Carol Dowling is Earbus Foundation’s newly appointed Director of Research. Carol is a Badimaya/Yamatji woman with a Ph D in Social Sciences and a Masters in Indigenous Research and Development. Her research focuses on the impact of colonialisation upon five generations of women in her family

In 2011-12, Carol completed a major documentary series for the federal health department on Aboriginal child ear health in her community. Her series is a two-time finalist in National Community Broadcasting Association of Australia awards and winner in 2013. The documentary series highlights the lived experience of Aboriginal families in Noongar country (south west Western Australia) and the impact of Otitis Media on the lives of their children. Carol won the Australian Human Rights Commission award for radio for this series in 2013.
