LEADERSHIP TRANSITION AT EARBUS FOUNDATION

Dr Lara Shur, Co-Founder & new Chief Executive Officer of Earbus Foundation of WA

10 years ago, on 26 April, Earbus Foundation of WA was launched.

Today, Kariyarra Elder and Earbus Foundation Chairperson Sue Beath shares some important news.

Earbus Foundation of WA is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Lara Shur as the new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Mr Paul Higginbotham, who steps down from his role after a decade of dedicated service to the organisation.  Along with Mr Higginbotham, Dr Shur is a co-founder of Earbus Foundation and will take over as CEO on Thursday 27 April 2023.

Dr Shur brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role and is well-equipped to lead the Foundation into the future. She holds an undergraduate Honours degree in Speech & Hearing Therapy, a Master’s degree in Audiology, a Clinical Doctorate (Au.D) in Audiology and a Graduate Certificate in Business Management.

Dr Shur joined Earbus Foundation as Director, Clinical Services in 2013. Current Earbus Nurse Manager, Ms Catherine Zeevaarder assumes this position – now the Director of Clinical Services & Outcomes - and will also be commencing Thursday 27 April 2023.

The Board and staff at Earbus Foundation look forward to working with both Dr Shur and Ms Zeevaarder and remain committed to our mission of reducing the incidence and impact of middle ear disease on Aboriginal and at-risk children in Western Australia to below the World Health Organisation benchmark of 4%. With the support of our community and our new Leadership Team, we can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of the children, families and communities we serve.

We are grateful for all that Paul has done to help advance our mission. We are delighted to have him remain on the Earbus Foundation Board in the role of Secretary and take on an Executive Director position, based in our Perth offices.
