PRESTIGIOUS PRIZE FOR PILBARA PROGRAM

Earbus Ear Health Screener Symone Ishak, Audiologist Edwin Chung, Director of Clinical Services & Outcomes Catherine Zeevaarder, & Audiologist Stephen Wong

Earbus Foundation is delighted to have won 'Most Outstanding Large Organisation' at the Pilbara For Purpose Awards.

Earbus has three programs in the Pilbara, servicing communities around Newman, Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Port Hedland. CEO & co-founder Dr Lara Shur said it was important to bring support to remote areas who would normally have to travel significant distances for ear health services.

“Our clinics are based around the premise of bringing services to children,” she said. “The team consists of a nurse, a GP or nurse practitioner who prescribes medication, and an audiologist who tests hearing. We visit schools, kindergartens, playgroups and early learning centres. In short, we go where the kids are”

The award was only possible because of the support of partners organisations Wirraka Maya Health Service Aboriginal Corporation, Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service, Nintirri Centre, Gumala Aboriginal Corporation and Royal Flying Doctor Service. The success of our programs reflects this collaboration as well as support from the Pilbara community.
