Dr Will Thornton (pictured) joined the EFWA team for the first time on our recent Pilbara visit. Dr Will grew up in Perth Hills and started life teaching high school maths/science. He moved into medicine – starting basic training in Adelaide/Darwin, completing GP training in Oxfordshire. He returned to WA from hospice work in UK.

He is now a GP in the Hills. Special interests include paediatrics, palliative care and emergency medicine. His keen interests are primary health care, rural medicine and medical education. Will works at Swans GP After Hours, plus regular stints in Goomalling assisting with rural practice and teaching at UWA and RACGP. He lives in the Hills with his very tolerant wife and three young children, balancing work and caffeine addiction with the odd holiday and keeping fit; he sometimes succeeds.
