Tahlia Kinnane is a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) with The Earbus Foundation of Western Australia and Derbarl Yerrigan Health Services. She received her Master’s degree from Curtin University in 2011 consolidating 20 years of nursing experience, principally in the primary health sector. Tahlia has many years of experience working in Aboriginal Australia and particularly in the area of paediatric middle-ear disease.

Tahlia recently attended an international Nurse Practitioner conference in Helsinki. The trip was sponsored by APNA and Bupa after winning a Best Practice award in Nursing in 2013. Tahlia finds working in remote Australia particularly rewarding as the Earbus Foundation team are able to overcome some of the contributing factors associated with ear disease e.g. access to primary health services, seamless ENT referral and essential medication costs.

Tahlia believes that the Foundation’s contribution to closing the gap in the Goldfields and Pilbara is significant as ear ill-health can have negative lifelong consequences for Aboriginal and other Australians.
