PAEDIATRIC Audiologist


Earbus Foundation of WA (EFWA) is an award-winning children’s charity founded in April 2013. Our mission is to reduce the incidence of middle ear disease in Indigenous and at-risk children in Western Australia below the World Health Organisation benchmark of 4%. We will achieve this via our established Outreach programs, which demonstrate excellence in Aboriginal health.

Our Vision is that current and future generations of Indigenous children can succeed at school unhindered by the debilitating effects of Otitis media and its impacts upon their ability to learn and achieve to their full potential.


POSITION

Reporting to the Audiology Team Leader, the Paediatric Audiologist will have responsibility for the provision of clinical services at our Hear Today Clinic in Brewer Street, Perth as well as in some regional and remote communities. We work with a diverse cross section of children including newborns birthed in private maternity hospitals, CALD, at-risk and Aboriginal children ensuring culturally appropriate services for all West Australian children.

The successful candidate will be both strategic and process-minded and will assist the Audiology Team Leader in the development of a performance culture among a group of individuals with varying skill levels. You must be able to work independently and work to help others at EFWA deliver results that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful person will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to build relationships with stakeholders integral to the running of the business.

This is a full-time position.


RESPONSIBILITES

The Paediatric Audiologist will have some of the following responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of a plan to market the Hear Today Clinic in Brewer Street, Perth to GPs, Allied Health workers and the wider community

  • Clinical supervision of Graduate Audiologists working as part of the Audiology Team;

  • Clinical Leader and Audiologist on Outreach trips to regional and remote communities including building strong teams and relationships with contracted professionals such as GPs, Nurse Practitioners and Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons;

  • Be a visiting Audiologist for trips undertaken in the Kimberley, Pilbara and other locations as they arise;

  • Building stakeholder relations in each region we work;

  • Strategic input at EFWA Planning Days, Clinical Round Tables and other internal reviews and forums;

  • Marketing of the Earbus brand to external stakeholders;

  • Representing EFWA at conferences and other national and international professional events by delivering presentations;

  • Clinical competencies of newborn hearing screeners;

  • Conducting infant diagnostic assessments (ABR and electrophysiologic testing) and paediatric assessments;

  • Other clinical work in the field of Audiology as required.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

As a prerequisite, the successful candidate must embody the core values of EFWA and be driven by the Foundation’s mission. The Paediatric Audiologist should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change in ear health. Experience in assisting to manage a values-driven organisation will be highly prized.

The successful person will:

  • Have a Tertiary Qualification in Audiology;

  • Be dedicated to working in a small team environment to provide the highest level of care to Western Australian communities and families;

  • Be action-oriented, enjoy and seek out challenges, be able to act and react as necessary, be unafraid to take charge in a situation as required;

  • Be (or be eligible to be) Full Member of Audiology Australia Ltd;

  • A current WA Driver’s license;

  • A WA Working with Children Card and Police Clearance is also required prior to commencement of work.
