Paediatric Audiologist

Ear Foundation Australia is an award-winning children’s charity founded in April 2013. Our mission is to reduce the incidence of middle ear disease in Indigenous and at-risk children in Western Australia below the World Health Organisation benchmark of 4%. We will achieve this via our established Outreach programs, which demonstrate excellence in Aboriginal health.

EOI - Full Time POSITION

Reporting to the Audiology Team Leader, the Full Time Audiologist will have responsibility for the provision of clinical services at our offices in Wellington Street, West Perth as well as in some regional and remote communities.  We work with a diverse cross section of children including newborns birthed in private maternity hospitals, CALD, at-risk and Aboriginal children ensuring culturally appropriate services for all West Australian children.

The full time Audiologist will be both strategic and process-minded and will assist the Audiology Team Leader in the development of a performance culture among a group of individuals with varying skill levels. You must be able to work independently and work to help others at the Foundation deliver results that make the vision a reality. Importantly, the successful person will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to build relationships with stakeholders integral to the running of the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The development and implementation of a plan to market the children's hearing clinic based at West Perth (to GPs, Allied Health worker and the wider community)

  • Responsibility for Clinical supervision of Graduate Audiologists working as part of the Audiology team

  • Clinical Leader and Audiologist on Outreach trips including building strong teams and relationships with contracted professionals (GPs, Nurse Practitioners and Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons)

  • Visiting Audiologist for trips undertaken in the Kimberley, Pilbara and other locations as they arise

  • Building stakeholder relations in each region we work

  • Strategic input at Planning days, Clinical Round Tables and other internal reviews/forums

  • Marketing of the Foundation’s brand to external stakeholders

  • Representing the Foundation at Conferences (presentations) and other national and international professional events

  • Clinical competencies of Newborn Hearing Screeners 

  • Infant diagnostic assessments (ABR and electrophysiologic testing)

  • Paediatric assessments

  • Other clinical work in the field of audiology

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

As a prerequisite, you must believe in the core values of the Foundation and be driven by the mission. You should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change in ear health.

As noted, this is an organization driven by the values of its people, so experience in assisting to manage a “values-driven” organization will be highly prized.

  • Current Western Australian Driver’s License

  • Working With Children Check

  • Police Clearance

  • Audiology Qualifications

  • Action oriented—enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation
