Canberra Calling

Paul Higginbotham Canberra

In November Earbus Foundation Executive staff travelled to Canberra to meet with a range of politicians from various political parties in both houses of the Australian Parliament. A particular focus was to introduce Earbus Foundation to the Indigenous members of the newly elected Senate and House of Representatives including Linda Burney and Senator Pat Dodson.

The Earbus Team also briefed the Shadow Ministers of Health, Indigenous Affairs and Community Services as well as WA Senators and MHRs. The visit was a great opportunity to share clinical data, Outreach models of service and important learnings from our work in regional and remote communities across the state.

The Senate Inquiry into Hearing Health (“Hear Us”) in 2009 highlighted the complex issues facing urban and regional Aboriginal communities and their access to hearing services.
