Earbus Foundation of WA is excited to welcome BHP as a major sponsor of our work in Aboriginal communities in the Pilbara, providing operational and capital funding. BHP funding allows Earbus Foundation to deliver Outreach Programs into the township of Newman and the remote Aboriginal community of Jigalong in the southern Pilbara region. The Outreach Program will deliver monthly Clinical visits to the schools in the region and deploy a fully-equipped customised Earbus that will be permanently located in Newman township.

Originally from Melbourne, where her family still lives, Catherine spent many years nursing in Victoria and South Australia and arrived in Perth this year. She started nursing at the time of the HIV/AIDs epidemic in Australia and this led her into infectious disease nursing. Since then she has worked in Infection Prevention and Control, Travel Health and Aboriginal Health. She is interested in the prevention of infections and diseases in Australia and worldwide.

Our new South Pilbara program serving the townships of Tom Price and Paraburdoo and the communities of Wakathuni and Bellary Springs is now being funded by Rio Tinto. We are excited to partner with Rio to put a customised and fully equipped new Earbus into the region along with multi-year funding to ensure program continuity. Despite interruptions caused by Covid-19 we have already done 2 visits to local schools and communities and have follow-up visits re- commencing in July.
